During the winter of 2005 I embarked on a driving and tramping tour of the New Zealand's Glorious South Island.   More...

The Three Passes
Submitted by pablo on 2007-05-21 01:21:17 (via danny.oz.au)
“Most people do the Three Passes east to west, … we decided to do it west to east - though this also changes the walk from a 700m net descent to a 700m net ascent.” I am pro braking rules, and although it may cause some uncomfortable changes you may be proud that you’ve done things your own way (if anybody cares:)).

New Zealand
Submitted by pablo on 2007-05-03 08:14:19 (via www.tor.cc)
“Overall, I'm finding New Zealand attractive, but a bit bland. Not boring, just bland. Culturally, it's as Americanized as most other white countries these days, so besides the accent and the fact that they drive on the left, this could almost be the states. McDonalds, Starbucks, and giant supermarket chains are everywhere”. Interesting approach…

Christchurch City
Submitted by Adele on 2007-04-27 06:16:11 (via www.geocities.com)
For those who like outdoor activities there are such as tandem para-shooting, hot air ballooning, whale watching, hot spring baths. For those interested in architecture, the Museum and the Art Center are fantastic examples of careful conservation of old structures. That’s Christchurch – an enjoyable experience.

The Blue Ringed Octopus
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-23 06:19:02 (via www.heldencrow.com)
If you go to Australia, don’t stop to sleep in a hostel dorm. You never know what you may encounter. And that is not the spiders, sharks, taipans, scorpions, stonefish, jellyfish, sea snakes, ticks or blue ringed octopus I’m talking about… But it’s New Zealand that will impress you with its shortage of people.   More...

The High Seas
Submitted by lisa on 2007-02-21 08:08:45 (via possum-pie.blogspot.com)
I can’t stop be amazed of the way some people feel about things they see in a trip, or the shots they make during the trip. This is definitely one of the articles in which the author’s perception of the nature and all its processes, as well as her feelings toward what is happening are perfectly correlated in a delightful article about New Zealand.   More...

Travels with Sandy
Submitted by roxy on 2007-02-21 07:59:58 (via www.tktravel.co.uk)
Sandy…such a beautiful name, especially for a motorhouse:), this was a real adventure through the New Zealand on Sandy!!! Letting aside jokes this is a great article about the impressions in the Kiwi country, which is indeed beautiful! It's not surprising that a lot of the Lord of the Rings was filmed here. Fantastic!   More...

Okarito
Submitted by pablo on 2007-02-21 07:55:29 (via treks.gnomedia.com)
"Okarito is a small costal settlement with 20 inhabitants, no shops, no bank, a hostel with one double room and three singles and a very basic campside". It’s a place of pure meditation there, and it can surely pretend to be the perfect place for the quiet and trekking lovers!

The Great Race Row of New Zealand - Aotearoa(1)
Submitted by lisa on 2006-12-11 23:34:21 (via www.c-weng.com)
For those interested in the life of the Maori people in New Zealand, see this article. No worry, there’s no way to get bored while reading it: it’s the type of article that puts you to thinking. How could it not happen when everything’s taking place in a stunningly beautiful landscape of fjords, alpine lakes, waterfalls and temperate rain forests?   More...

Climbing in New Zealand
Submitted by cleo on 2006-11-10 03:28:29 (via www.gdargaud.net)
Incredible! These guys are truly extreme adventurers: long and diversified trips, climbing the rocky Elie de Baumont and Malte Brun and then the scenic route to the top of the icy Mt. Cook. Alongside, strange spherical formations, obnoxious keas rock attacks, sharks and whales and finally the Mt. Tasman. This is worth reading.   More...
