Austin
Submitted by bindero on 2006-12-20 02:34:04 (via www.globosapiens.net)
Keep Austin Weird - that’s a really strange slogan for a place, isn’t it? This report describes the capital of Texas and its main attractions and features. Austin’s got a fair explanation to being called weird: the 50.000 students living in 16 campuses at the University of Texas had taken over the city! Imagine the outcome…

Submitted by kiwi on 2006-12-15 03:00:12 (via www.oldworldwandering.com)
Ever heard of Oxford? Of course, who didn’t? Well, many still… but that’s not what I want to say. These guys visited Oxford and can tell you what this is actually like. They even managed to sneak into a few lectures, and get an idea of the standard of Oxford’s educational culture plus other particularities like beer and nightclubs…

The Wye Valley

A fascinating place to visit, when in England – it seems like you get deep in the countryside and transfer in time centuries ago… Very unique location.

The Spotted Cow

Who doesn’t like to travel? Some time ago I thought that only I am so thirsty for traveling and other do this out of duty of because they just need a vacation.‘/ But besides liking it you’ve also got to have some money, which is a problem often for many. Now look what these people did to earn for traveling. Sweat and tears, but I admire them.   More...

Lake Maninjau
Submitted by christine on 2006-12-13 02:02:17 (via www.ourreallybigadventure.com)
Ok, think about a place that reflects the sky and surrounding crater in the most beautiful way during daytime and brings up lake monsters in the night time. In other words, here’s a great travelogue about Lake Maninjau in Indonesia, where you could find Internet Café’s even in those peaceful surroundings. To navigate on the web, of course…

Norwegian New Year
Submitted by roxy on 2006-12-11 23:32:14 (via www.indiatravelogue.com)
Norway is my favorite winter country since I visited it in 2005. Reading this article gave me the feeling I never left that place, and I’m still hanging out skiing, having an amazing Norwegian breakfast and most of all – spending New Year with the great, friendly, Norwegian people. No matter how far away from home you are, you feel welcomed there…   More...

Who were Pedro Heredia and La India Catalina?
Submitted by kiwi on 2006-12-01 02:57:50 (via www.caribenet.com)
I found this pretty interesting piece of history on the larger-than-life bronze statues of a semi-naked Indian maiden that stands on a traffic island near Chambacu, and an equally impressive statue of a conquistador that stands in the Plaza de los Coches in Cartagena, Columbia. I’m sure there must be much more of these sights over there.

The Dominican Getaway
Submitted by Adele on 2006-12-01 01:40:35 (via realtravel.com)
I never thought of the difference in staying at a rented villa or at an all-inclusive hotel, but there is one, at least in the Dominican Rep. – you get to try home-cooked Dominican meals ;o) Yumm! I also liked the “cascading” part – must be really fun and wild!
